Thurim - a Teutonic Knight and Requiem's previous incarnation - can wait in the shadows no longer: he seizes control of Requiem and the fighter plane to beat back the attack, and takes on Otto in daring aerial combat.
As Count Dracula and Nero observe the dogfight from the deck of the SS Satanic, they come under bombardment from Gotha Dragon Bombers, who carry a particularly unpleasant payload. With the psychic teams strained to the limit, dwindling supplies of Black Opium are essential to maintain defenses. But the Black Opium emergency supply train is about to have unexpected visitors dropping in...

We learn the dark truth behind Heinrich and Rebecca's relationship on Earth, while on Resurrection Requiem's dreams are haunted by Lamias, the victims of his cruelties on Earth. As Mortis continues to plot against him, Requiem discovers dangerous information about his past that he must keep hidden at all cost. But Rebecca has a new secret weapon in her war against the Vampires, the religious maniac, Torquemada..

Requiem faces the savagery of the Werewolf Torquemada, and Rebecca, Requiem's great love on Earth finally comes face to face with the Vampire who destroyed her when she was alive.
Meanwhile, Black Sabbat enters into a conspiracy against Dracula with the Arch Hierophant, leader of the Archaeologists who bury progress on Resurrection.

Events reach a climax at the Vampires Ball as Requiem risks all for the sake of Rebecca.

The hero is a German soldier during World War II named Heinrich Augsburg, who is killed on the Eastern Front facing the Soviet Army. He is sent to Résurrection after his death and is attacked by a mob of zombies. During the confrontation he meets a vampire who calls himself Otto von Todt and befriends him. Otto reveals he is a vampire and explains that now Heinrich has become a vampire as well. As the story progresses, the hero discovers the world of Résurrection, its peoples and politics. He is however only interested in retrieving a woman he loved during his lifetime and who he knows by the name of Rebecca.
